L\u2019oursin tout rond (jusqu\u2019\u00e0 14cm de diam\u00e8tre) et couvert de piquants broute des algues microscopiques avec sa bouche munie de 5 dents. Ses piquants, puissant moyen de d\u00e9fense sont pos\u00e9s sur une carapace molle, le test. L\u2019int\u00e9rieur est compos\u00e9 de 5 glandes orang\u00e9es, plus ou moins fonc\u00e9es, nomm\u00e9 le corail. L\u2019oursin se d\u00e9place gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des tentacules termin\u00e9s par des ventouses situ\u00e9es entre ses \u00e9pines. <\/div>\n
Il vit pr\u00e8s des rivages sur les rochers ou sous des algues.(herbiers) <\/div>\n
